A creative mind is a strong mind. A creative mind is able to look at a problem and see a solution that no one else has thought of yet. A creative mind is willing to take risks and is even willing to fail, knowing that risk and failure alike teach their own lessons. A creative mind is, ultimately, a gift that will allow your child to enjoy the ups and downs in their lives, solve problems, find joy, and connect with other people. We should foster creativity in our homes and in our families in a variety of ways. We can encourage our children to find their own modes of expression. We can listen to their opinions and respond respectfully, teaching them that their thoughts have worth. We can provide a safe environment for them to make mistakes and fail in so that they have the opportunity to realize that mistakes are another way of learning. We can provide them with enriching activities and materials. And most importantly, we can let them play.
