Spring is a time for new beginnings. After a long winter it’s so good to feel the sunshine on your face. To see new growth and new life. It feels like stretching after a long winter nap. You can hear the birds singing and the bees buzzing. The birds and the bees…
Have you started talking to your kids about the birds and the bees yet? Spring is a great time to start talking about the most important topics in life! That’s what is all about. How life begins, valuing our own lives and talents, friendship and play, fostering relationships based on mutual respect and so much more.
Teaching our children healthy sexuality begins with teaching them about love and boundaries and self-worth. Because if a child knows his or her worth, if a child understands what a healthy relationship is supposed to be like, they’ll naturally gravitate towards and have the desire to have those relationships in their own lives.
Spring is a natural time of renewal, of looking inward as well as outward, and a great time for assessing what we can be doing better as parents.
- People spring clean and plant gardens. Why not plant the seeds of healthy intimacy in your child’s mind? Clean out the cobwebs of misrepresentation from the media that are in your children’s minds.
- Take the opportunity that spring presents to recommit to having a closer relationship with your child. Take time to reconnect and spend less time in front of screens.
- Take more time to ask your children how they are feeling about themselves and the world around them.
- Encourage your children to get active and appreciate the amazing things their bodies can do. Remind them that their bodies function better when they exercise and take care of themselves.
All of these topics will get your family started having great, bonding discussions and all are covered in . The books are available for ages 3-7, 8-11 and 12+ and are certain to foster a great new beginning for communications in your family. Start talking about the birds and the bees now or your child might get stung!
